Scientist created an algorithm for the perfect amount of coffee

Scientist created an algorithm for the perfect amount of coffeeScientist created an algorithm for the perfect amount of coffeeHow much coffee should you have in one day to stay energized without getting the jitters? Discovering this answer can be a process of trial and error for our bodies. For some of us, one cup is enough to energize us, while for others, one cup does not even register as a caffeinated drink. And now, the U.S. Army has an answer. Senior research scientist Jaques Reifman, who works on biotechnology software for the U.S. Army, has discovered the perfect amount of coffee an individual should drink to stay alert based on an algorithm. His research welches recently published in theJournal of Sleep Research. The U.S. Army has found the best caffeine dose to maximize alertnessWhen you are sleep deprived, caffeine can provide a much-needed jolt of energy. Reifman and his collaborators wanted to find out how much caffeine we could safely consume to maximize our performance wh en we are tired. To find the perfect amount of coffee, the researchers tailored caffeine dosages based on the algorithm which took factors, such as the participants sleeping schedule, into account. The result was a highly effective performance enhancer. Through the algorithm, participants could improve their alertness by up to 64%.Our algorithm is the first quantitative tool that provides automated, customized guidance for safe and effective caffeine dosing to maximize alertness at the most needed times during any sleep-loss condition, Reifman told Science Daily.Reifman said that the software is being tested on soldiers in training. Unfortunately, the caffeine-dosage algorithm is not yet publicly available for us civilians to try out. Until then, we will have to play chemist ourselves.
